too busy to post recently, nothing exciting going on, news is boring, went home to Brownwood for Memorial Day, reminder of why i left, town was way dark, people as backwards as ever, love Austin...

Was in Lancaster, Pennsylvania last week for work. Very nice temps - in the 50s and 60s the whole time. Didn't want to come home to 90s and almost 100 in mid-May. El Nino where are you? My first trip to the East Coast - didn't look any different than I expected. Drove from Baltimore to Lancaster and back. Saw downtown Baltimore - beautiful bayfront, booming development, huge outlet mall, NO speed limit I swear. Maybe I should move hehe. Glad to be back in Austin though. Still feels like home - and that's what they say about Brownwood.

This is the message that the Pacific Palisades High School (California) Staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.
This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework.The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough schoolwork to pass their classes.

This is the actual answering machine message for the school:"Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of your school. In order to assist you in connecting the right staff member, please listen to all your options before making a selection:
"To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1
"To make excuses for why your child did not do his work- Press 2
"To complain about what we do - Press 3
"To swear at staff members - Press 4
"To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several flyers mailed to you - Press 5
"If you want us to raise your child - Press 6
"If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7
"To request another teacher for the third time this year- Press 8
"To complain about bus transportation - Press 9
"To complain about school lunches - Press 0
"If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable and responsible for his/her own behavior, class work, homework, and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a nice day!"

Great post here about the debate in Kansas between evolution and intelligent design. You see, the Bible-thumpers want kids to learn about other ideas of creation, not just pure science. But I thought that's what Sunday school was for?

The Erasure concert was fanfuckingtastic.
Oh yeah, sorry, i didn't mention that before. So i saw my favoritest band in the whole world in concert, live, full frontal, loud and booming in my face.
In short - a completely religious experience of the musical kind.
And unfortunately, had to come back to reality. damn.

well, not quite Philly, but just west of there. will be gone Monday thru Thursday for work. my first time in the Northeast, AND i have to drive myself from Baltimore to this little town. i'll be popping a few pills to keep the anxiety down. might do some blogging while i'm up there. wish me luck!

Today at 5:05:05 am & pm the time will be 05:05:05 05/05/005....05.05.005 comes only once in 1000 years and coinciding with Thursday (5th Day of the week) comes only once in 7000 yrs...

BUT!!! - - Ann Coulter was at UT last nite, at the LBJ Library of all places (how blasphemous, I know!!), and the story today was some guy asking her (paraphrasing here), "if marriage should only be between a man and a woman, then what about the marriages where the man does nothing but fuck his wife up the ass?"

They arrested him . . .

The police would not say why. Supposedly 10-yr-old kids were present. Hmmm.

The point though is that most intelligent people have learned that blonde skank Ann Coulter is just an act and makes money by hearing herself talk.
