WiseMoves

I am reminded today why I made the infinitely wise decision to move north in December '04. Oh, could it be the endless accidents and slow traffic on MoPac? I thank myself every day for listening to myself and not moving somewhere further from work. To be home in 5 minutes is blessed. Fuck all the suburbanites.

Windows Vista Beta 1

Very cool techie news for a geek like me - beta 1 of Windows Vista (previously Longhorn) released today and since my company is an MSDN subscriber, I plan to be downloading that sucka tonite and installing it. XP has been out almost 4 years now and while it's their best, it's been out for eons in computer-time. Check this site out for more in-depth information on Vista - www.winsupersite.com

Mammoth in Bangs, Texas

(from Brownwood Bulletin 07/25/05)
BANGS -- After approximately three weeks of excavating, paleontologist Scott Clark and his crew have found a bone that has helped them identify the animal located on Ray Barnes Drive.
A 39-inch ulna bone was found, giving Clark 95 percent certainty the bones belong to a Columbian Mammoth. "The bone is typical of elephant-type animals," Clark explained. "The size of the bone, however, puts it well outside the norms of a mastodon." Without carbon dating, Clark estimated the bones to be between 9,000 and 40,000 years old. "It could be as recent as 7000 B.C., which would be near the time of paleolithic man," Clark said.

--Kinda cool to find something so old so close to home. Reminds us that we've only been on this earth for a very short time.

New Layout

I like the white on black easier. I discovered that there were display issues with IE and Firefox that I wasn't aware of. This template doesn't have so much code mucking up the page.

horsefucking

King County sheriff's detectives are investigating the owners of an Enumclaw-area farm after a Seattle man died from injuries sustained while having sex with a horse boarded on the property.
Investigators first learned of the farm after the man died at Enumclaw Community Hospital July 2. The county Medical Examiner's Office ruled that the death was accidental and the result of having sex with a horse.
A surveillance camera picked up the license plate of the car that dropped the man off at the hospital, which led detectives to the farm and other people involved, said sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart.
Deputies don't believe a crime occurred because bestiality is not illegal in Washington state and the horse was uninjured, said Urquhart.
But because investigators found chickens, goats and sheep on the property, they are looking into whether animal cruelty — which is a crime — was committed by having sex with these smaller, weaker animals, he said.
The farm was talked about in Internet chat rooms as a destination for people looking to have sex with livestock, he said.
"A significant number of people, we believe, have likely visited this farm," said Urquhart.
The Humane Society of the United States intends to use the case during the next state legislative session as an example of why sex with animals should be outlawed in Washington, said Bob Reder, a Humane Society regional director in Seattle.
"This and a few other cases that we have will allow us a platform to talk about sex abuse of animals," Reder said.
Thirty-three states ban sex with animals, he said.
Susan Michaels, co-founder of local animal-rights organization Pasado's Safe Haven, said she has been fighting to have bestiality made illegal. "It's animal cruelty behind closed doors," Michaels said.

utter and complete boredom - again

my brain is turning to mush - i am testing software - it is so fucking boring i want to die - who gets off on this shit, who likes it, who wants to do this all day. i work with computers, but i work ON them, i fix them, i make them better, i don't sit and stare at a screen and make sure that a picklist or dialog box works. barf~

i think it might rain outside - KEYE radar shows lots of pretty red meaning a storm is a-comin' - but alas all i can do is hope.

got call from friend up in DFW who wants me to come visit and see his new baby - i'm like, sure, as soon as you help with the $60 it will take in gas to drive my happygayass up there and back. no, j/k, i have the $$ to come up, i have enuf friends up there now to make the trip worthwhile. Besides, i hear blonde twinks calling my name to Station 4 - oops, did i think that? ;-)

to end on a bright note? Tori Amos tickets for Sept 2 in Austin @ Backyard go on sale this Saturday. Yay!!

okbye

The Reality of Office Space

finally saw "Office Space" in its entirety last night and now I get it. now i get it. my career life to date has been this movie. the first place most definitely, the second place a little less extreme. i realize more and more that the old mantra of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" is NOT applicable to me. why the fuck would i want to the join the arrogant, WASP-y republican troupe?! i would rather quit my job and work at a record store or serve food than pretend to like golf or be a pretentious asshole or do the circle-jerk under the conference room table.
